Integrated Library System Administrator (Issaquah, WA, US)

King County Library System (KCLS) is seeking a detailed and technical Integrated Library System Administrator with robust technical experience and leadership experience managing information systems and business-critical services in a complex, multi-server, multi-agency, integrated application environment.

This position reports to the Business Applications Manager as part of a collaborative team and is responsible for guiding the development and change management, as well as the ongoing support and administration of the KCLS Integrated Library System.

About the Opportunity:

This ILS Administrator position will collaborate with multiple KCLS departments as well as the larger community of libraries who share the same ILS with KCLS. This position provides a leadership role at KCLS and participates nationally to ensure that ILS remains a vibrant, effective, and functional tool, supporting variety of business-critical services (acquisitions, cataloging, circulation and public access) to both patrons and staff. This position requires someone who is curious and willing to explore new ways to continually iterate and improve process, and willing to engage with both users and the open-source community.

Support Specialist (Remote, US)

 

Salary: High $50,000s to mid $60,000s; Commensurate with education and experience.

A Support Specialist at Equinox is responsible for providing stellar service and support for Equinox clients using Evergreen ILS, Koha ILS, VuFind, CORAL, and other open source library technologies. An understanding of library workflows and experience providing empathetic and friendly service are essential to success in this role. The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and communicate with efficiency, skill, and attention to detail, and do so with effective time management skills.

This is full-time, remote position with schedule to be determined within Equinox’s business hours. Support Specialists are also expected to be available to provide on-call and emergency support.

Responsibilities: 

  • Analyzing, diagnosing, and resolving software and hardware issues for clients
  • Patching client systems and appropriately tracking changes
  • Communicating proactively, clearly, and respectfully with clients (by phone, email, via remote communication platforms)
  • Troubleshooting and reporting bugs with the software itself
  • Providing system administration and training and educational support as necessary

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2-3 years of experience providing customer service (library experience preferred)
  • Experience providing help desk support and using help desk ticketing systems
  • High comfort level with Linux, a shell prompt, scripting, and SQL
  • The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, demonstrate good judgment in addressing support concerns, and escalate issues appropriately
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and manage time and tasks effectively

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting open source software and participating in open source communities
  • Experience supporting or administering integrated library systems and other library-related technologies
  • Experience working remotely as an employee
  • Experience working in a library technology role or with library clients

We are seeking a creative and motivated individual with experience developing and implementing user-friendly websites, interfaces, and applications. The Front End Developer is responsible for developing websites, interfaces, and applications across Equinox’s products and services. This person will create and maintain visually appealing, responsive, and accessible interfaces featuring user-friendly design, clear navigation, and optimal user experience.

The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, collaborative, and demonstrate the ability to successfully complete projects and meet deadlines with efficiency, skill, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for developing front end projects across multiple platforms. Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance and optimize the user experience. Project examples include: Building and improving websites and applications, migrating interfaces across frameworks, preparing patches for submission to open source communities, UI/UX consulting and testing, creating and implementing technical designs.
  • Perform QA, UX, and accessibility tests and use tools to evaluate and monitor performance. Create internal and external reports and provide progress updates.
  • Work with product, design, and community partners to design projects which support user needs and workflows. Participate in open source communities and professional activities. Write and/or review end-user documentation and contribute to educational resources.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and partners. Actively contribute ideas, creative projects, innovations, and feedback as a member of Equinox’s development team. May supervise and/or coordinate work with subcontractors.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 – 5 years of experience working in a similar position with a portfolio of relevant projects
  • Experience working with HTML/XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Linux command line
  • Ability to meet design specifications, create and/or follow instructions and wireframes, demonstrate close attention to detail, work iteratively, and give and receive feedback
  • Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment and prioritize effectively
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and quickly learn new technologies and frameworks
  • Experience with modern version control, testing, and continuous integration practices
  • Effective communication skills, in person, by phone and email, and via remote platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to manage work assignments within project scope and on schedule
