Evergreen 3.3 Released

Evergreen 3.3 has been released to its eager users.  Dan Wells, release manager for Calvin College in his announcement email described 3.3 like this:

“As we close out this development period, I think the overall theme of this release can be summarized as infrastructural improvements and modernization.  Chief among these would be the significant shift to new versions of Angular/Bootstrap as spearheaded by Bill Erickson.  There are a handful of production ready interfaces now using the new system (MARC Import/Export and some Administration interfaces) and an ever more feature-rich “staff” catalog which can be optionally enabled by Evergreen administrators.  The staff catalog is still considered experimental for this release, but is already highly functional, and may one day serve as a prototype for bringing similar technology to the public OPAC.
A somewhat less glamorous but equally important effort is making sure Evergreen continues to work smoothly with major parts of our technology stack.  As lead by Jason Stephenson and Ben Shum, Evergreen can now claim official support for the newest Ubuntu LTS (18.04) as well as significantly more modern versions of PostgreSQL (9.6 and 10).  Ubuntu is a popular choice in the Evergreen community for a server operating system, and PostgreSQL plays the critical role of backend database for Evergreen, so these improvements are necessary and much appreciated.”

Evergreen 3.2.4 and 3.1.10 released

The Evergreen Community is proud to announce two new bug fix releases: Evergreen 3.2.4 and Evergreen 3.1.10. Both releases contain bug fixes in cataloging, reports, and system administration. 3.2.4 also includes improvements to accessibility, acquisitions, circulation, search, and the Angular client. You can download these new releases at the Evergreen Downloads Page.

3.2.4 contains the following bug fixes improving on Evergreen 3.2.3:

Accessibility

  • Adds appropriate alt text to the Evergreen splash page (Bug #1802594)
  • The public catalog search box now only autofocuses when searching is the main purpose of the page (Bug #1796225)

Acquisitions

  • Fixes an issue that prevented purchase orders to not open in a new tab (Bug #1813290)

Circulation

  • The Billing History grids now save their configuration in the database (Bug #1806709)

Cataloging

  • Catalogers can now set the Bib Source in the Z39.50 Overlay and Import interfaces (Bug #1727345)
  • Fixes an issue where publishers display in the publication date column in copy buckets (Bug #1812698)
  • Electronic reources no longer display a call number called URI in the Volume Editor (Bug #1752665)
  • Spine/pocket label templates can now include circulation library and owning library (Bug #1726568)

Reports

  • Fixes an issue where external documentation links can open in the reports module (Bug #1784893)
  • Fixes an issue where publishers display as a publication date in reports (Bug #1812698)

Search

  • Staff users can now set their prefered default Advanced Search pane (Bug #1799963)
  • The public catalog search box now only autofocuses when searching is the main purpose of the page (Bug #1796225)

System administration

  • The DELETE_COPY_ALERT permission no longer needs to be granted on the consortium level (Bug #1783421)

Angular client

  • The angular client now uses Angular 7 (Bug #1801984)
  • The angular client grid actions can now be disabled depending on the criteria of which rows are selected (Bug #1808268)
  • Angular client pages now display their own titles in the browser tab, rather than AngEG (Bug #1813647)

3.1.10 contains the following bug fixes improving on Evergreen 3.1.9:

Cataloging

  • Catalogers can now set the Bib Source in the Z39.50 Overlay and Import interfaces (Bug #1727345)
  • Fixes an issue where publishers display in the publication date column in copy buckets (Bug #1812698)
  • Electronic reources no longer display a call number called URI in the Volume Editor (Bug #1752665)
  • Spine/pocket label templates can now include circulation library and owning library (Bug #1726568)

Evergreen 3.2.3 and 3.1.9 released

The Evergreen community is pleased to announce two maintenance releases of Evergreen: 3.2.3 and 3.1.9.  You can download these new releases at the Evergreen Downloads Page.

3.2.3 includes the following improvements over 3.2.2:

  • Adds the ability to delete Pending Patrons in the web client
  • Fixes an error message when saving a Pending Patron
  • Opens a new tab after merging bib records from a record bucket
  • Opens a new tab after importing a bib record with Z39.50 and clicking “Go to Record”
  • Opens a new tab after overlaying a bib record with Z39.50
  • Improves the Manage Copy Tags “Type” dropdown by adding the Owning Library of each type
  • Adds missing columns to the column picker on the Patron Bills screen, and improves some column labels
  • Fixes a bug that prevented printing multiple copies of a bill receipt
  • Fixes a bug that prevented saving changes to the Billing History columns
  • Fixes display of “Billing Location” and “Owning Library” on the Bill Full Detail screen
  • Increases the size of the “Template” dropdown on the Copy Templates tab of the Call Number/Copy Editor
  • Adds authority support to the Vandelay session tracker
  • Adds a “–workstation” option to marc_stream_importer.pl for compatibility with Vandelay session tracking
  • Fixes a bug with how the new Hold Targeter filters recall-able copies
  • Ensures that edi_order_pusher.pl only sends purchase orders with status “on-order”
  • Accessibility improvements to the forthcoming Angular components of the web client
  • Deprecates Hatch storage of settings. In future versions, Hatch will only be used for printing.
  • Provides updated technical documentation for json_query’s new JOIN syntax

3.1.9 includes the following improvements over 3.1.8:

  • Improves the Manage Copy Tags “Type” dropdown by adding the Owning Library of each type
