Two years ago, Missouri Evergreen implemented a cataloging certification program using a pdf document, YouTube, and the test server. Although consortium catalogers were able to complete the process and earn their certifications the program was clunky – labor intensive and difficult to update along with software upgrades. In order to streamline the process and prepare for a bi-annual recertification process it was decided the program was in need of a complete overhaul. In this session I will discuss how we created our certification program, set standards, managed expectations, and automated the process with an LMS.
Teamwork Makes the Herding Cats Dream Work
In September 2022 Missouri Evergreen hired a full-time Consortium Cataloger. Come discuss with the Chair of the Cataloging Committee and the Consortium Cataloger how they set priorities, divide the workload, and work together to wrangle a cataloging community of 60+ libraries. Whether a consortium’s cataloguing is centralised, partially-distributed, or fully-distributed, it’s crucial for members to agree upon policies, guidelines, and best practices. This presentation will review some of C/W MARS’ challenges, suggestions, and solutions in a multi-type consortium of 150+ libraries.
